Michael M Gray O.B.E, D.L, Chairman - Scottish Borders Golden Jubilee Organising Committee. Thank you very much for all that you have contributed over the past months.;Your efforts in planning so much vital detail ensured that we did deliver a well-managed event and did so in a safety environment. I certainly valued your advice and all that you contributed to making our day a success.
Gordon Chisholm, Melrose Sevens Secretary. On behalf of the club I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your work creating the event plan for the tournament. It is an excellent document and is fitting legacy for all the effort that you put into it. The external agencies and our own security personnel were very complimentary about the thoroughness of the document. Once more I would like to thank you for all the time and effort on the plan, without which I doubt we would have had the hugely successful tournament that we had on Saturday.
Mike Povey, Selkirk Vintage Rally Chairman. I personally found Mark to be very professional in his approach to health & safety and showing a lot of common sense, always with a smile and a bit of humour. Many other event organisers have admitted our health & safety policy & event plan were the best they had seen.
Sir John Orr OBE QPM recognised the quality of the event safety work produced by Mark Hinchliffe in a Scottish Executive report on ‘Review of Marches and Parades in Scotland’. He said: “I am grateful for the ‘Organising Events in the Scottish Borders’ upon which I have drawn heavily in this summary of the sorts of issues that might be covered in guidance.”
